Several years ago, my husband and I were looking to buy a new house. The search for our new home seemed to drag on, and we were getting tired of looking at places that just weren’t right. And when we did put an offer on a place we liked, the deal fell through due to circumstances beyond our control (this happened twice).
One day, as I was driving home from work, I was feeling particularly frustrated. I was asking WHY we were having so much trouble finding the right place. As I passed the grocery store at the edge of our neighbourhood, I heard a clear voice that said “you can have anything you want, as long as you are honest about why you want it.”
This message shook me at first, and then became an aha moment for me. As I drove the rest of the way home. I spoke aloud to myself as I clearly, for the first time, articulated my reasons for wanting to move to a new home. Once I spoke my reasons out loud, it became very apparent to me how I had been blocking my own creative potential.
I wanted to move to a new home so that I would have a place where I would be closer to nature and have my own space to meditate, write, and work. I knew that the lack of these things was affecting my health, yet I still struggled with the “why do I deserve to move when I already have so much?”
By worrying and giving in to guilt, I was focusing on lack and feeling undeserving, rather than focusing on what I really wanted to create.
The message I received in the car that day drastically shifted the energy of the situation, and has affected me profoundly every day since. Just a few weeks after I received that message, we found our dream home and moved in.
I believe that we have the potential to create abundance in our lives, and I have found that there are three major keys to manifesting our desires. Over the next several weeks, I will share with you some tips for consciously co-creating that which you desire in your life.
Conscious Co-Creation Step 1: Clarity
The first step to conscious co-creation is to get really clear on what you want. It is important to note that attracting abundance into your life does not limit anyone else’s abundance. We live in a world of possibility – there is enough for everyone.
In many cases, the achievement of our desires can actually have a positive impact on others besides ourselves. In the case of my new house, my health, energy level, and overall happiness improved, allowing me to be more present in my personal and professional relationships. This impacted my family, friends, and clients.
The following exercise is one that I shared with the participants of the CREATE Retreat Day in June, 2015. This 5 minute exercise will take you through a series of questions that will help you to clarify your desires and amplify your creative potential.
When you are ready to perform this exercise, set aside 5-10 moments in a comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. You may wish to have a journal or notepad, pens, coloured pencils or markers, or a computer to take notes with.

My next blog post will build on this exercise as I share Step 2 to Conscious Co-Creation: Communication. I look forward to connecting with you next time – Happy Creating!
